Privacy Policy
What we do with your information, in plain English.
This policy explains how we handle your information when you use Genbox. It follows the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Who is responsible
Machine Mind Limited (registered in England and Wales, company number 11731290, registered office at 35 Follager Road, Rugby, United Kingdom) is the data controller for Genbox.
Contact for anything privacy-related: genbox@machinemind.ltd.
2. The short version
- No signup and no account.
- We do not keep a database of your files.
- Your uploads are processed to make your result, then deleted automatically.
- We do not sell your data.
- We use one analytics tool (Google Analytics) to see which tools are useful - you can block it.
3. What we process and why
Files and prompts you submit. When you use a tool, the files you upload and any text you enter are processed on our servers to produce your result. They are handled in a temporary working folder, and the results are kept only long enough for you to download them. After that they are removed automatically (see “How long we keep things”). Our basis for this is performing the service for you, and our legitimate interest in running the service.
Technical information (server logs). Like most websites, our server records standard technical data - including your IP address, the time, the page or tool requested and your browser’s user-agent - for security, to prevent abuse and to apply rate limits. Our basis for this is our legitimate interest in keeping Genbox secure and available.
Your theme choice. The look you pick is stored in your browser’s local storage (“localStorage”) on your own device. It is not sent to us.
4. Cookies and local storage
We do not use advertising cookies. We do use Google Analytics to understand, in
aggregate, which pages and tools are used and how people find us. Google Analytics sets
a small number of cookies (named like _ga and _ga_*) and may
process your IP address and basic device information on our behalf. You can block or
delete these cookies in your browser at any time (including private/incognito mode or a
content blocker), and the site keeps working normally.
We ask for your choice with a small bar at the bottom of every page. Google Analytics is loaded only if you accept, and you can change your mind at any time using the “Cookies” link in the footer.
The only other thing we store on your device is your chosen colour theme, in localStorage, so the site looks the way you like next time you visit.
5. Sharing your data
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We only share it:
- with our hosting provider(s), who run the servers for us;
- with service providers who help us run the site - for example Google, which provides the analytics described above;
- where we are required to do so by law, or to protect our rights, our users or the public.
Some of our infrastructure may be located outside the UK. Where that involves transferring personal data, we take steps to make sure it stays protected (for example, by using providers that rely on approved safeguards).
6. How long we keep things
- Your files and results are transient. Working files and results are deleted automatically - they are removed once they age out (within about 48 hours), and we only keep the most recent runs. Please do not treat Genbox as storage: download what you need.
- Server logs are kept for a short period for security and troubleshooting, then deleted.
7. Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to: get a copy of your personal data; ask us to correct it; ask us to delete it; restrict or object to our processing; and receive your data in a portable form.
To exercise any of these, contact genbox@machinemind.ltd. Because Genbox keeps no accounts and deletes files quickly, we may hold nothing about you by the time you ask - but we will tell you either way.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
8. Children
Genbox is meant for adults. Please do not use it if you are under 18. Some tools generate images from a text prompt and can produce unrestricted content, so the service is not suitable for children or young people.
We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has used Genbox, contact us at genbox@machinemind.ltd and we will remove anything we hold.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top will change, and the current version always applies.
